The Williamstown Theatre Festival is many things … it is a training ground, a place to experiment, a venue for talented artists to take chances and stretch their boundaries, it is considered by many to be the pre-eminent summer theater in the country, but perhaps most of all, the WTF is a family. It is the goal of the staff and the Trustees that when you buy a ticket for a show at the WTF, it is more than a transaction. It is an act of commitment to our mission and a celebration of both the 50+ year legacy of the Festival and the unbounded promise of its future. Any given show, or any given season, may thrill you, challenge you, dazzle you or leave you unmoved, and while we aspire to perfection, ultimately art is about taking chances. What is important to keep at the forefront of one’s mind is that the virtues of the WTF transcend these particulars, and it is these virtues that command our affections. The Williamstown Theatre Festival is a vital part of Williamstown, of the Berkshires and of the American Theater, and it is incumbent upon us all to continue to strengthen it.
